{warning: this is a rather long post... couldn't help it!!}
Wow! This session was an ice breaker for me in the direction of newborn photography, and I must seriously say, I LOVE newborn photography! Even after just one single session!
We had a triple {yes, triple!} baby shower at our church a couple of months ago - sadly I had a nasty accident with a knife right before the shower and ended up laying on a hard bench in tears with pain the entire time...instead of taking lots of pictures as - I - had planned... Well, pffft. I not going to say anything else because it so happened to depress me for a week afterwards. I was mad because I couldn't hardly do anything! I'm a leftie when I write, and when you can't use your left hand for anything save to hold above your heart and to display a rather bulky bandage... well. not so pleasant. {and here I will stop my rambling about an accident. period.}
So, my gift to the three ladies having babies was a free newborn session. When Kristina approached me a while later and said I was an answer to specific prayer - I was so amazed. Me? A specific answer to prayer?! How crazy amazing! Yes, she said, she'd been praying specifically for someone who could take family and newborn pictures. I told her... "I have never done newborn pictures before. I'm new to this... but I will do my best!" And so... she was already past due date... when suddenly, due to a family matter, I ended up in Germany for the first time in 8 1/2 years for 12 days. I got two days of notice. WHOA. Everything went on hold and I had the most emotionally packed time of the year. Imagine 8 1/2 years of emotions and memories.... somehow rewinded and all of a sudden you're 8 1/2 years older and you step back into that world. It was amazing to see family and friends.. though not always very easy!
I got news while there that Kristina had had a baby girl!! I was very, very excited to say the least... We planned a date, and a few days after I got home... I was on my way to the {McD} residence (I'm not saying "house" because... well, that would not be quite right and I would never call it a house - it's wayyy more interesting! :) ).

I was rather nervous actually. What if I didn't get any good ones?! What if I missed something? {which I did but won't mention... :) } But, again - I'd never done it and was afraid I'd mess up! Nope! Far from it!
Alaythia is SUPER sweet... I love her hair. So cute! She had something against sleeping or taking a short nap of any kind while we took pictures - which made for all the pictures with her eyes wide open. But - I wouldn't trade them! Her eyes are gorgeous and will probably turn out like the beautiful ones of her parents and sister. It made things a good challenge for me - you never knew what sort of expression she'd have next! btw- I love those kind of challenges. They are my kind of thing!
Erianna was her sweet self. She's such a great sister! More than once she tried to soothe Alaythia when she was fussy! "shhh. shh. 'laythia. its kay.. shhh. shh. shhh..." :)

When I pulled the pictures up onto the laptop - I gasped. Never had I ever dreamed to take such beautiful pictures! hey amazed even me! And 90% of these pictures were taken with my new 50mm 1.4 - meaning no zoom. I had to move around for every pictures and come to think of it - hardly noticed I really was once I got into it! I only cropped like one or two of these. The compositions are sooc. {straight. out. of. camera}
And, Lightroom {my kind of free time!!} made the editing ah.may.zing. I had so.. so many great pictures it really was very hard to narrow down. It took time, but it was so worth it! I love each and every one of these! {and they are far from all!!!}
Dear {McD} Family, Thank you for letting me take these! It was an amazing feeling to be an answer to an unbeknownst prayer! I hope you enjoy all your pictures and the announcements! It was a blessing to me to be able to use my gifts to serve you!
So, Enjoy! there's a bunch!!
